EU Apparel Imports Decline in Q1 2024, Turkey’s Share Decreases

In the first quarter of 2024, EU imports of apparel and garments fell by 12.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching 21.9 billion Euros, with Turkey’s share continuing to decline. Turkey’s apparel exports to the EU dropped by 14.1% to 2.541 billion Euros, reducing its share to 11.6%. EU textile and raw material imports decreased by 12.6% to 4.6 billion Euros, while Turkey’s textile exports to the EU fell by 3.8% to 876 million Euros, increasing its share from 17.4% to 19.1%. Turkey’s overall share of EU imports rose from 3.7% to 4.2%. The value per kg of Turkish apparel exports decreased from 21.5 to 20.4 Euros.
